Study Auslan with Free TAFE
Build your career in Auslan with this qualification pathway:
- Diploma of Auslan
- Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan)
- Advanced Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan).
You may be eligible to get Free TAFE funding to help cover the cost of each course.
Note that Free TAFE funding is not available for non-Auslan streams of the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Interpreting. You may be able to get Skills First funding to cover non-Auslan streams.
If you want to further build your Auslan skills, or you hope to work as an Auslan interpreter or signer, this course could be for you.
This training will further develop your Auslan language skills so that you can discuss and exchange information about complex topics.
You will:
- learn to communicate in Auslan with fluency and spontaneity
- continue to explore the differences between Auslan and English.
You can choose electives in areas that interest you such as:
- communicating with Deafblind people
- taking notes for Deaf, hard of hearing and Deafblind people.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
There is demand for Auslan skills across a range of sectors. After completing this course you could work in the community, education or performing arts sectors.
This training could also help prepare you for roles such as a research assistant, youth or disability worker or counsellor.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
