About this course

This course teaches you how to safely remove non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM). ACM is the kind of materials found in bonded materials like cement sheeting, roofing, and tiles.

You’ll learn how to:

  • plan the job and follow safety rules
  • set up the site with signs and barriers
  • wear the right protective gear
  • remove asbestos without spreading dust
  • clean and decontaminate the area
  • dispose of asbestos safely
  • complete paperwork and follow legal steps.

You will learn in the classroom and get hands-on practice with real equipment. You will be assessed through written tasks and practical activities.

This short course consists of nationally recognised units of competency.

Licensing and regulatory information

Before entering a construction site, you’ll need to complete the unit ‘CONISS012 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’. If you complete this unit with a WorkSafe approved training provider, you will be issued with a Construction induction card (white card).
