About this course

Do you want to work on construction sites, in civil works, or around cranes? This short course teaches you how to safely sling loads, and guide crane operators during lifting jobs. Dogging is a high-risk job, and this training helps you do it safely and legally.

In this course you will learn how to:

  • plan lifting jobs safely
  • choose and check lifting gear (chains, slings, ropes)
  • sling loads correctly
  • use hand signals, whistles, or radios to guide cranes
  • spot and manage hazards.

This short course consists of nationally recognised units of competency.

Licensing and regulatory information

Once you pass the training and assessment, you will get a Statement of Attainment. You can then apply to WorkSafe Victoria for your High risk work licence (dogging – DG class). This licence lets you work as a dogman/dogger.
