About this course
This short course teaches you how to safely use a boom lift over 11 metres to reach high places on sites like buildings, warehouses, and factories.
You will learn how to:
- plan the job and check the site
- inspect and set up the boom lift
- operate the lift safely
- use harnesses and safety gear
- shut down and pack up properly
- follow emergency procedures.
You will learn in the classroom and get hands-on practice with real equipment. You will be assessed through written tasks and practical activities.
This short course consists of nationally recognised units of competency.
Licensing and regulatory information
Once you pass the training and assessment, you will get a Statement of Attainment. You can then apply to WorkSafe Victoria for your High risk work licence (boom-type elevating work platform operation licence – WP class).
Before entering a construction site, you’ll need to complete the unit ‘CONISS012 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’. If you complete this unit with a WorkSafe approved training provider, you will be issued with a Construction induction card (white card).
