About this course
Do you want to work in legal services without becoming a lawyer? This diploma gives you the skills to support lawyers and clients in a professional legal setting. You will learn about the Australian legal system and how to handle tasks in a legal firm.
The course also covers how to:
- conduct and apply legal research
- write complex documents
- follow instructions in a legal services environment
- work with a legal services filing system.
Electives let you focus on areas that interests you, such as litigation, wills and probate, or intellectual property. You may like to specialise in areas such as:
- contract law
- family law
- property law
- criminal law.
This course will prepare you for roles such as:
- paralegal – assisting lawyers with research, drafting and case preparation
- legal assistant – managing files, scheduling hearings and supporting clients
- legal administrator – handling office operations in a law firm or court.
