About this course

Do you have an eye for beautiful interiors? Turn your creativity into a career by providing design services for clients. This training will give you the skills you need to work as an interior designer. 

This course covers all aspects of residential interior design, including:

  • consulting with clients to understand their goals and preferences
  • planning, arranging and styling interior spaces
  • choosing colour schemes, furniture, fabrics, fixtures and lighting
  • presenting your work to clients
  • working with builders, architects and service contractors 
  • preparing detailed design documentation. 

You can also complete electives in areas that interest you, for example:

  • small business operations
  • event decoration
  • interiors for restoration projects 
  • colour applications and finishes 
  • quotes and contracts for design projects
  • 3D digital models
  • designing workplace interiors.

Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

On completion of this training you could start your own interior design business or work in a design studio.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
