Early childhood educators are in demand. Jobs are expected to continue growing in this sector. This diploma course will set you up for a rewarding career with leadership opportunities.
You will gain advanced skills in childhood education, wellbeing and development. You will learn to design and teach curriculum within an approved learning framework. You will also be qualified to supervise other staff or volunteers.
The course also covers the following core skills:
- appropriate care for children, toddlers and babies
- developing cooperative behaviours
- inclusive learning strategies
- working with families
- identifying and responding to children and young people at risk
- nutrition, health and safety
- emergency first aid
- legal and ethical practices.
You can also choose from a range of electives. Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools and kindergartens.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
