About this course
Do you want to advance your career in the construction industry? This qualification will prepare you for to work as a builder, general foreperson or building inspector. It is also an important step to starting your own building business.
Skills and knowledge will include:
- structural principles
- risk and financial management
- estimating, preparing and administering contracts
- selecting contractors
- overseeing the work and its quality
- managing construction work in building projects.
With this qualification, you will be able to manage low rise residential and commercial building projects of up to three storeys.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Licensing and regulatory information
- You must have access to a live building and construction workplace to complete the core unit ‘CPCCBC4008 Supervise communication and administration processes for building and construction projects’.
- Before entering a construction site, you’ll need to complete the unit ‘CONISS012 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’. If you complete this unit with a WorkSafe approved training provider, you will be issued with a Construction induction card (white card). This unit is not a core subject in this course, however it can be studied as an elective. Ask your course provider for advice when selecting your subjects.
