About this course
If you have a permanent cognitive impairment or an intellectual disability, this skill set will help you with your reading, writing and numeracy skills. It will help build your independence and confidence to get more involved in your community.
You will have the opportunity to learn these skills in the training:
- recognising and using the letters of the alphabet
- reading and writing simple text
- understanding pictures and symbols
- speaking and listening
- understanding numbers, money and time.
You can apply for this skill set if you are over 17 years of age, with evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment or an intellectual disability.
Completion of this skill set will give you credit towards further training that includes these units, such as the ‘Course in Initial General Education for Adults’ skill set.
