About this course
If you are learning English as an additional language, this skill set will teach you the basics. It will help you build your learning skills, prepare for further training and employment, and get more involved in your community. It is suitable if you have limited or no formal education.
The training will teach you these foundational English skills:
- reading and writing short text and messages
- understanding numbers and money
- speaking and listening
- understanding and giving instructions and directions
- understanding measurement and shapes.
You will also learn how to set up effective study habits to support your learning.
Entry into this skill set is based on:
- your current English language skills
- your education experience (both overseas and in Australia)
- any prior EAL learning
- your learning and pathway needs.
After completing this training, you can go on to study certificate level courses in EAL.
