About this course

Would you like a career helping to create safer and healthier workplaces? This training will give you skills and knowledge for work health and safety (WHS) roles.

You will learn to assess and manage risks and apply relevant WHS laws. People with this qualification work within established parameters and may have supervision responsibilities. 

Core topics covered in the course include:

  • implementing WHS management systems 
  • workplace compliance with WHS laws
  • WHS consultation and participation processes
  • workplace incident response.

You can also choose from a range of electives including:

  • return to work practices
  • WHS monitoring processes
  • managing contractor compliance 
  • controlling hazardous chemicals
  • environmentally sustainable work practices
  • health and safety awareness programs
  • WHS in mine environments.

On completion of this training, you will be able to work in roles such as: 

  • safety inspector
  • supervisor 
  • occupational health and safety officer.
