About this course
Are you keen to work in education or advance your career in this rewarding sector? This qualification will prepare you to support teachers and help students get the most out of their learning. It will allow you to work with a moderate level of autonomy. You may also have the opportunity to guide other staff.
In this course you will learn how to:
- work with students who need additional support
- identify and respond to children and young people at risk
- assist students with their learning
- facilitate learning for students with disabilities
- support the behaviour of children and young people.
You can also choose electives in areas that interest you, for example mathematics support, literacy support, e-learning and student engagement. Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
A minimum number of work placement hours must be completed in a primary or secondary school classroom environment to achieve this qualification.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
