About this course
Would you like to take your plumbing career to the next level? Are you interested in designing hydraulic systems? This qualification offers an advanced technical skill set that will enable you to design and supervise projects.
The course offers two pathways. You can qualify as a plumbing contractor or as a hydraulic consultant. Hydraulic design involves using water or other liquids to power a mechanical function.
Core skills covered include:
- risk control processes
- working with specifications
- regulatory requirements for the plumbing and services industry
- estimating and costing work
- legal and risk management requirements for new business ventures.
You will learn how to design and size the following:
- consumer gas installations
- heated and cold-water services
- sanitary drainage and plumbing systems
- stormwater drainage systems.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Licensing and regulatory information
Before entering a construction site, you'll need to complete the unit ‘CONISS012 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry'. If you complete this unit with a WorkSafe approved training provider, you will be issued with a Construction induction card (white card).
