About this course
Do you want to gain valuable skills and experience in dental assisting? This course will help you provide advanced support to dentists, dental therapists and dental hygienists. If you have already studied dental assisting and want to take on more responsibility, this course is for you.
Some of the skills you will develop include:
- interpreting and applying medical knowledge
- taking clinical photos
- sterilising equipment
- managing sterile stock.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
On completion of the course you will be able to move into exciting new roles such as:
- dental assistant
- dental therapy assistant
- dental sterilisation nurse.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Licensing and regulatory information
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
Dental radiography work must only be performed by a person with a radiation user licence granted by the relevant State /Territory regulatory authority under legislation.
