Would you like a career in finance? Get the skills and knowledge you need for accounting support roles such as a bookkeeper, accounts clerk or payroll officer. 

This course will teach you basic accounting and bookkeeping skills including:

  • preparing financial reports and budgets 
  • preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
  • data processing
  • managing payroll
  • monthly reconciliations 
  • preparing end-of-year adjustments
  • finalising financial records after year-end. 

These skills are needed in businesses and organisations in every industry.

You can also choose electives in your area of interest including: 

  • planning finances, risk and legal requirements for new business ventures
  • customer service strategies
  • salary packaging
  • superannuation payments 
  • complex spreadsheets.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Licensing and regulatory information

On completion of the course you will be eligible to apply for membership with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB).

If you would like to provide business activity statement (BAS) services for a fee or other reward, you will need to register with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).
