About this course

If you love travel and enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds, a career in tourism may be for you.

This course will give you the skills and training to work in a variety of tourism roles. It covers the basics of tourism customer service, sales and operations. 

You can choose from electives in an area of interest to you, for example, marine tourism, tourism office operations, food and beverage, or human resource management. Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

On completion of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to:

  • plan and coordinate tourism services
  • deliver tourism services and products.

A career in the tourism industry can be very diverse. Jobs include:

  • tour guide
  • operations coordinator
  • booking or sales agent
  • visitor information officer 
  • attractions guide 
  • cultural and heritage guide 
  • tourism business owner.
