About this course

Pathology collectors are in demand in Australia. This course will qualify you to work as a pathology collector and be part of the growing health sector.

In the training you will learn how to work with patients to collect blood samples, swabs and electrocardiograms. 

You will also gain essential skills in: 

  • infection control
  • first aid
  • sample preparation
  • communication and 
  • customer service.

You can choose electives to gain further skills in your area of interest, for example:

  • holter monitoring
  • spirometry
  • capillary blood collection
  • drug testing.

Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

To give you hands-on experience, this course includes work placement. A minimum number of work placement hours must be completed to achieve this qualification.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
