About this course

This course will give you the skills and knowledge to enter the non-emergency ambulance industry. 

You don't need previous health industry experience to apply.

During this course you will learn to:

  • provide non-emergency transport and care for patients who have non-acute or chronic illness or disability
  • gain the skills to provide appropriate patient assessment 
  • follow up procedures for safe removal of a patient for pre-arranged or booked transport service.

You will gain knowledge and skills in:

  • communicating in a health or community services environment
  • interpreting and applying medical terminology
  • recognising healthy body systems
  • providing first aid 
  • infection prevention and control procedures
  • providing advanced resuscitation 
  • assessing and delivering basic clinical care 
  • procedures for routine safe removal of a patient
  • transporting non-emergency patients
  • safe work practices for client care.

On completing the course, opportunities for further study include:

  • Diploma of Nursing
  • Diploma of Paramedical Science.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
