About this course
This course will give you the skills and knowledge to enter the non-emergency ambulance industry.
You don't need previous health industry experience to apply.
During this course you will learn to:
- provide non-emergency transport and care for patients who have non-acute or chronic illness or disability
- gain the skills to provide appropriate patient assessment
- follow up procedures for safe removal of a patient for pre-arranged or booked transport service.
You will gain knowledge and skills in:
- communicating in a health or community services environment
- interpreting and applying medical terminology
- recognising healthy body systems
- providing first aid
- infection prevention and control procedures
- providing advanced resuscitation
- assessing and delivering basic clinical care
- procedures for routine safe removal of a patient
- transporting non-emergency patients
- safe work practices for client care.
On completing the course, opportunities for further study include:
- Diploma of Nursing
- Diploma of Paramedical Science.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
