About this course
Do you want to work in a meat processing business? This course will give you skills to work in a business that produces:
- making ready-to-eat packs
- fancy meat cuts
- speciality meat products.
This course lets you choose from a range of different units to suit your interests and skills.
When you finish this qualification, you will be able to do things like:
- help customers with their meat needs
- use different tools, materials and information to do your job
- solve a range of problems
- work on your own or with others and follow the procedures.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This course must be done as a traineeship. You’ll get technical knowledge through coursework and hands-on experience through paid work. On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
To enrol as a trainee, you’ll need:
- a job in a relevant workplace in the same field as your course, and
- an employer willing to sign a Commonwealth Government ‘Training Contract’ and support your learning at work.
