About this course

Do you want to work in a hospital or health services pharmacy? This course will teach you the skills you need to start a career in pharmacy support.

You’ll learn how to:

assist with dispensing medications
manage pharmacy stock and supplies
follow health and safety guidelines
communicate with patients and health care professionals
understand pharmacy laws and regulations.

This course includes hands-on training to give you real-world experience. You’ll get to:

work in hospital or health services pharmacies
use pharmacy tools and equipment
learn from experienced pharmacy staff
apply your skills in real pharmacy settings.

This course can lead to jobs such as:

pharmacy assistant
hospital pharmacy technician
health services pharmacy support worker.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This course can be done as a traineeship. You’ll get technical knowledge through coursework and hands-on experience through paid work. On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.

To enrol as a trainee, you’ll need:
1. a job in a relevant workplace in the same field as your course, and
2. an employer willing to sign a Commonwealth Government ‘Training Contract’ and support your learning at work.
