About this course
Are you ready to begin your career as a mechanical tradesperson? This training is for apprentices in engineering and manufacturing who want to grow their skills.
You will learn about:
- planning
- understanding drawings and specifications
- using equipment
- milling and machining
- workplace communication
- health and safety at work
- quality procedures.
The course includes a mix of theory and hands-on practical study.
On completion, you could work as a:
- fitter and turner
- tool maker
- maintenance fitter
- machinist
- mechatronics tradesperson.
After completing this training, you could go on to do a Certificate IV in Engineering.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This course must be done as an apprenticeship. You’ll get practical skills and experience in a specific trade or profession. On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
To do an apprenticeship you’ll need an employer willing to hire you as an apprentice.
