About this course

Are you interested in metal casting and moulding? This course will teach you how to shape metal into useful parts for industries like manufacturing, construction and automotive.

In this hands-on training you will learn how to:

melt and pour metal into moulds
make strong and precise moulds for different products
use casting and moulding equipment
smooth, polish and fix cast metal pieces
follow safety procedures and check for defects.

When you complete this course, you will be able to work as a:

metal caster
mould maker
foundry worker
engineering tradesperson.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This course must be done as an apprenticeship. You’ll get practical skills and experience in a specific trade or profession. On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.

To do an apprenticeship you’ll need an employer willing to hire you as an apprentice.
