About this course

Would you like to work in the dairy industry? This course will give you the knowledge and skills to begin your career in dairy farming. 

In this hands-on training you will learn how to:

  • establish pastures and crops for livestock production
  • prepare, transport and store chemicals
  • coordinate milking operations
  • plan and build an electric fence.

The course also covers:

  • animal health and feeding
  • work health and safety.

You can also choose elective subjects in your areas of interest, for example:

  • artificial insemination
  • livestock
  • agricultural crops
  • plants
  • machinery operations and maintenance.

Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

After completing this training you will be qualified to work as a dairy farmhand or senior farmhand.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
