About this course

Are you passionate about conservation? A career in conservation and managing ecosystems could be for you. 

Some of the skills and knowledge you will learn in this training includes how to:

  • respond to wildlife emergencies
  • prepare and use explosives
  • identify and report signs of diseases or pests
  • follow Aboriginal cultural protocols and practices
  • assist with planned burning
  • operate mobile underwater vehicles
  • operate specialised machinery and equipment.

You can choose electives to specialise in one of these areas:

  • Indigenous land management
  • ecological restoration
  • land, parks and wildlife management
  • pest control
  • conservation earthworks
  • marine operations
  • fire management
  • mined land rehabilitation.

Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

This course will prepare you for a range of roles including: 

  • lands, parks and wildlife officer
  • Indigenous lands worker
  • revegetation worker
  • land rehabilitation worker 
  • soil conservation specialist
  • national parks worker
  • conservation earthworks assistant.

You may choose to enrol in further training such as a Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or a Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management. 

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
