About this course

If you enjoy helping people, a career in community services may be for you. There is demand for skilled workers in the community sector.

This course will prepare you for entry level roles working under the direction of others. 

You will learn introductory skills across a range of community services, including:

  • welfare support
  • child protection
  • family violence
  • aged care
  • mental health
  • youth and family welfare
  • disability services.

Community service professionals work in government funded, non-government and charitable organisations. Work may include the day-to-day support of individuals, as well as program development.

Some course providers may provide pathways to work placements to gain industry experience.

To advance your career, you may choose to complete further study, such as a Diploma in Community Services.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
