Do you love working outdoors? Arboriculture is focused on the management, maintenance and care of trees. If you’re looking for a career with plenty of outdoor time and varied work opportunities, a career in arboriculture could be for you.

This hands-on course will teach you the specialised skills needed to care for, prune and remove trees. It covers both ground-based and treetop-based skills.

You will learn how to:

  • inspect and identify trees
  • assess tree health
  • control plant pests, diseases and disorders
  • operate cranes and other equipment
  • maintain equipment
  • safely use an elevated work platform (EWP)
  • prune and dismantle trees.

You can choose electives to specialise in your area of interest, for example: climbing, cranes, elevated work platforms (EWPs) and more. Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

People who are skilled in tree maintenance and care are needed in metropolitan and regional locations. This course provides the skills and training needed to work as an arborist.
