This course in security operations will teach you basic skills and practical knowledge to become a qualified security officer. 

You will learn how to:

  • protect yourself and others using basic defensive techniques
  • patrol property and control access to maintain security
  • screen people and personal items 
  • monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
  • apply security procedures to manage intoxicated people
  • apply security procedures to remove people from premises
  • escort and protect people and valuables.

On completion of this training, you will be qualified for roles including security officer, unarmed guard and crowd controller.

This course provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings such as:

  • armed guarding
  • cash-in-transit
  • close protection
  • control room operations
  • guard dog handling.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
