This course will teach you a range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing, including:
- communicating with clients and the salon team
- preparing clients for services
- shampooing and basin service techniques
- basic hair drying and styling
- product knowledge.
You can also choose elective subjects in areas that interest you, for example:
- head, neck and shoulder massage
- hair colours
- hair braiding
- visual merchandising.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
On completion of this training, you could work as a salon assistant in a hair salon, beauty salon or day spa. You could also choose to complete a hairdressing apprenticeship or beauty therapy traineeship.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
