About this course
Are you interested in drainage systems? This hands-on course will teach you skills in planning, installing, maintaining and repairing stormwater, drainage and sewerage systems. Jobs are expected to continue growing in this sector.
In this training you will learn how to:
- read plans, calculate quantities and mark out materials
- carry out levelling
- carry out simple concreting and rendering
- prepare simple drawings
- install trench support
- install stormwater and sub-soil drainage systems
- plan and install below ground sanitary drainage systems.
You can also choose electives in areas that interest you, for example:
- locating and clearing blockages
- collecting and storing roof water
- working safely at heights
- installing sewerage pumpsets.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
This course will qualify you to work as a professional drainer. You may also choose to do further study in the plumbing industry.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Licensing and regulatory information
Before entering a construction site, you'll need to complete the unit ‘CONISS012 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry'. If you complete this unit with a WorkSafe approved training provider, you will be issued with a Construction induction card (white card).
