About this course
Are you looking into becoming a trade apprentice, but would like to experience the industry first?
This course provides a pathway to the primary trades in the construction industry (except for plumbing). You will gain an understanding of building skills and principles, and you’ll be exposed to common scenarios you will experience on the job.
The course has core units of competency that are required in most Certificate III qualifications. You will also be able to choose electives from trade skills such as:
- carpentry
- joinery
- shop fitting
- bricklaying
- concreting
- plastering.
Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.
On completion of the course, possible career opportunities include:
- carpentry apprenticeship
- wall and floor tiling apprenticeship
- bricklaying apprenticeship
- joinery and shopfitting apprenticeship
- painting and decorating apprenticeship.
This course will give you pathways to the following further study:
- Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying
- Certificate III in Carpentry
- Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
- Certificate III in Shopfitting
- Certificate III in Joinery.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
