About this course

Are you a car, motorbike or truck enthusiast? If you’re a young person looking for a career in mechanics, or you're looking for a change in career, this could be the course for you. 

 

In this training you will learn the skills and knowledge to work in an automotive workplace. You will learn how to service braking, cooling, steering and suspension systems. You will also learn to service drive shafts and drive assemblies.

You can choose elective subjects in areas that interest you, for example:

  • servicing fuel injection systems
  • servicing transmission systems 
  • servicing marine engines
  • tyres, wheels and tubes.

Note that the availability of electives may vary depending on your selected training provider.

On completion of this training you will be qualified to work as a vehicle serviceperson or mechanic’s assistant.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
