About this course
Would you like a career in agriculture? This course offers practical skills and knowledge to help you gain work in farming enterprises.
You will learn environmentally sustainable practices and how to work safely in a farm environment. A choice of electives enables you to specialise in livestock or crop production, or a mix of both.
This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture. It will prepare you to carry out routine tasks under general supervision.
On completion of the course, possible job options include:
- animal attendant
- stockperson
- farm hand
- station worker
- wool handler
- beekeeping assistant
- stud hand
- abattoir labourer.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This course can be done as a traineeship. You’ll get technical knowledge through coursework and hands-on experience through paid work. On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
To enrol as a trainee, you’ll need:
- a job in a relevant workplace in the same field as your course, and
- an employer willing to sign a Commonwealth Government ‘Training Contract’ and support your learning at work.
