Mornington Peninsula Ambassador

ntroducing Lauren Johansson
As a community worker, Mornington Peninsula Regional Ambassador Lauren Johansson is committed to making a big difference to the lives of socially challenged and ‘at-risk’ people facing complex situations.
Aged 19, Lauren completed her Certificate IV in Community Services (Youth Work) at Chisholm Institute of TAFE and began working for the Salvation Army Peninsula Youth and Family Services. She later went on to complete a Diploma of Youth Work and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment whist working fulltime.
Working as a youth recreation officer with the Mornington Peninsula Council, Lauren’s skills have enabled her to work on such projects as an innovative implementation of recreation and creative therapeutic programs for disadvantaged and marginalised young people from the Mornington Peninsula community.
With an engaging, enthusiastic and empathic approach, Lauren uses her skills, training and experience to build a strong rapport with disadvantaged youth and their families.
Lauren was recognised for her commitment to the community services industry when she won the 2008 Victorian Vocational Student of the Year and represented Victoria at the 2008 Australian Training Awards.
These awards have confirmed Lauren’s capabilities and further ignited her passion for not only personal lifelong learning, but to advocate for ongoing accredited training for all employees in the community services industry.
