Melbourne Ambassador
Introducing Kylie Paterson-Jonas
Melbourne Ambassador Kylie Paterson-Jonas’ TAFE qualification in logistics not only gave her the skills to help her husband build a successful business, it also inspired her to become a trainer.
When Kylie’s husband set up Freedom 2020 Pty Ltd, a logistics business in Victoria, she made the decision to obtain a qualification in logistics so she could help build the business. She initially set out to undertake a degree in logistics but was told she first needed to get a vocational education and training qualification.
Kylie completed an Advanced Diploma in Business (International Trade) at RMIT and said it was the best thing she ever did, crediting her training as one of the fundamental reasons behind the success of her husband’s business.
Since then, Kylie has also completed a Degree in Transport and Logistics and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and a Masters of Education.
Kylie, who still works in her husband’s business, was asked to step into her current role teaching and coordinating both international trade and logistics courses at RMIT.
Kylie is also quick to point out that logistics is not just for men. There are hundreds of women working in the logistics industry and she believes it is a natural fit for them as they can multi-task, see the big picture and not lose sight of the details.
