Recognising Your Skills

SkillsStore
Do you have skills and experience but no 'piece of paper' to prove it?
Do you know how your existing skills and experience could assist you in gaining a qualification?

Skills Stores can assist

When you visit a Skills Store you’ll get friendly, free expert advice about how your current skills and experience can count towards a new qualification.

You may have gained relevant skills through:

  • Paid or unpaid work experience
  • On the job training
  • Informal learning
  • Community or voluntary work
  • Hobbies, sport and leisure activities

The Skills Store will provide you with a personal referral to a registered training organisation as well as a skills profile so that you can have your skills formally acknowledged through a recognition of prior learning assessment.  This will cut down the time you spend training and means that you’re not repeating training for the skills that you already have.
