Carer’s program hits the mark

Continuing Education BendigoContinuing Education Bendigo

Continuing Education Bendigo, in partnership with Care Beyond Measure, an in-home personal care service, has created a program that offers both employment and learning outcomes for participants.

When Care Beyond Measure approached Continuing Education Bendigo about the shortage of suitably qualified and trained personal carers, the wheels were put in motion for what became the One for Care program.

The program provides learners with three qualifications at the Certificate III level (Aged Care, Home and Community Care, Disability Work).

Integral to the program is the commitment of Continuing Education Bendigo and Care Beyond Measure to work together to ensure a program that attracts and retains people to the personal care sector.

What’s great about this program is that learners combine attendance at class with workplace components where they are mentored by an employee of Care Beyond Measure.

Learners who successfully complete the program are guaranteed employment with Care Beyond Measure.
One of the great successes of the program is that it has helped attract more male learners into the field of work – not an easy thing to achieve.

Mentors also gain through their involvement by obtaining competency in a unit from the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

The program has clearly hit the mark. There are already more people interested than places available in the course.
