How to enrol
There are a number of ways to enrol in a course including in person, by telephone, online and by post. In some cases you will be asked to enrol in person, for example if the Learn Local organisation needs to see proof of your entitlement to funding support or if you need to speak to a tutor before being offered a place.
Enrolment requirements can vary across Learn Local organisations. Contact the organisation you are interested in for more information on how to enrol.
To find an organisation in your local area you can search via the Find a Course Provider function on this website.
When to enrol
Enrolment dates vary between organisations so make sure you check the exact enrolment date. Normally you will need to enrol a week or two before your course is due to start. If you do not enrol with your organisation at the right time it may mean that you cannot start your course or that your start is delayed. It is always a good idea to enrol as early as you can, so you can get the place you want. Some courses are very popular and fill up very quickly.
Information you will need to provide
When you enrol in a course you will be asked to prove your identity. You might also be asked to prove you are unemployed, an overseas student or being sponsored by an employer. Your Learn Local organisation will be able to tell you exactly what information to bring to enrolment but the following information may help you.
You may be asked to provide some of the following information depending on the course you are enrolling in:
- photo ID (like a passport or driving licence)
- proof of address (like a household bill, or bank or rent statement)
- proof of qualifications (a record of achievement or certificates)
- Statement of Educational Needs (if you have one)
- your Medicare card
- evidence of how you will be paying for your course
- letter from your employer if they are paying for your course
- proof of benefits if you are unemployed
If there are extra requirements, the Learn Local organisation will give you more information. You will normally need to pay for your course, or prove that someone is paying on your behalf, before you can start. If you'd like more help with enrolling in a course, contact the Learn Local organisation.
