Financial assistance

You may be able to get help with paying course fees. Types of assistance available are:

  • Returning to work - grants for people returning to work. This money can be used to cover any costs involved in your course. Visit the Returning to Earning website at www.returningtoearning.com.au for more information.
  • Centrelink assistance - offers financial help for adults in study, training or looking for work. See the ‘Are you studying or training?’ page on the Centrelink website at www.centrelink.gov.au.
  • Youth Allowance Scheme – for young people studying or training. For more information, see the ‘Youth Allowance Scheme’ page on the Centrelink website at at www.centrelink.gov.au.
  • ABSTUDY - helps Indigenous students or go on to further studies. For more information, see the ‘ABSTUDY’ page on the Centrelink website at www.centrelink.gov.au.
  • Travel - student concession cards. Application forms are available from staffed train stations, some bus depots, and online at the 'Metlink' website at www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au.
  • Fee Help - VET FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme for Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, whether you get government funding or not. For more information visit Skills Victoria Financial Assistance.
