Incentives and Assistance

There are allowances available for you as an employer and also for your apprentice or trainee.

For the employer

The Completion Bonus

This bonus provides an additional financial incentive to employers to ensure that greater numbers of apprentices and trainees complete their training.

This bonus applies to apprenticeships and traineeship completions after 1 July 2003 and is subject to eligibility criteria. The key criteria are:
  • the employer must employ three or more eligible apprentices or trainees
  • the apprentice or trainee must be a 'new entrant' apprentice or trainee, and not classified as an existing worker
  • the apprentice or trainee must be under 25 years of age at the time they enter into their Training Contract.
A new early completion component extends the existing scheme to reward employers of apprentices who complete more than six months early with an additional $1000 payment. This payment is not be payable to employers of trainees.
