Changes to VET Fee and Funding Arrangements for 2012

This information applies to students undertaking training courses. For information on university course fees, visit the Going to Uni website.

The Government has announced changes to fee and funding arrangements for 2012.

The changes relate to the funding differential between some TAFE and non-TAFE providers; the industry weightings applied to training in selected industries; removal of the minimum and maximum fee caps; and cessation of special arrangements for apprentices.

The following will stay the same in 2012:

  • All eligible Victorians will continue to have access to government subsidised training.
  • Low-income students will remain eligible for tuition fee concessions.
  • Eligible students aged under 25 years who enroll at a TAFE institute to study at the Diploma or Advanced Diploma level will continue to pay a concession fee of no more than $100 per annum, consistent with the Government’s election commitment.
  • The loadings that apply for the delivery of training to Indigenous Victorians, and to 15 19 year olds who do not hold a senior secondary certificate, remain unchanged.
  • 44 of the 51 existing industry weightings are unchanged.
