Victorian Teacher/Trainer of the Year
Robyn Richards
Terip Terip resident Robyn Richards won the 2008 Victorian Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award.
Robyn runs Australia's only equine veterinary nursing course at Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE. She has built industry partnerships across Australia which allowed students to undertake work placements in the Upper Hunter Valley, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Robyn provides a student-centred approach to her teaching to make it more enjoyable. She focuses on building partnerships with industry and actively seeks industry involvement in the programs she runs. Robyn involves inspirational, high calibre industry expert speakers and demonstrates theories in a practical way.
Through her work, Robyn has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the animal sciences industry and to best practice teaching at Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE.
The Award was a professional development experience for Robyn and it has assisted her in gaining a leadership positions within her organisation.
"The Award was a real professional development experience for me, from the submission process right through to the Award night and then further commitments with the Institute," said Robyn.
"The Victorian Training Awards have opened up opportunities for me within the Institute and externally. The Award has given me confidence in the job that I do and gave me added incentive to forge forward."
