Vocational education and training

Victoria's Vocational Education and Training System – A Pocket Guide provides a range of useful and interesting statistics on Victoria’s VET system.

The publication contains information about:

  • training providers
  • students, including apprentices and trainees and international students
  • training activity
  • courses and qualifications
  • outcomes
  • employer views
  • finance

The Pocket Guide is compiled using information from Skills Victoria’s student statistical collection and financial information and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) Student Outcomes and Employer Use and Views surveys.

Information for VET providers

Providers who receive government funding must submit data to Skills Victoria. See the information for VET providers on How to submit VET data for more information.

Higher education

The Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations collects statistics on the provision of higher education in Australia.

Data included in the Higher Education Statistics Collection relate to:

  • courses conducted by higher education institutions
  • numbers and characteristics of students undertaking courses
  • student load
  • completion of units of study and courses
  • students' liabilities under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS)
  • numbers and characteristics of staff in higher education institutions
  • income and expenditure for higher education institutions;
  • research activity
  • the educational profiles of higher education institutions
