Training Awards Program
Skills Victoria manages the Victorian Training Awards.
The Victorian Training Awards is an annual event that recognises outstanding contributions and achievements in the delivery of vocational education and training (VET) in Victoria.
The Awards celebrate student and organisation success and showcase best practice training, commitment and resources provided by the VET sector towards improving the skill base of Victorians.
What are the benefits?
The Victorian Training Awards:
- increase local and national awareness of the breadth and quality of Victoria's VET sector
- identify, promote and reward excellence in the Victorian VET sector
- increase recognition and links between students, employers and training organisations of examples of training excellence
- position VET as an attractive study option to enhance career and development prospects.
The award categories
There are 13 award categories, including five student awards and eight organisation awards:
- Victorian School-based Apprentice of the Year Award
- Victorian Apprentice of the Year Award
- Victorian Koorie Student of the Year Award
- Victorian Trainee of the Year Award
- Victorian Vocational Student of the Year Award
- Victorian Teacher/Trainee of the Year Award
- Victorian VET Client Service/Support Excellence Award
- Victorian Large Training Provider of the Year Award
- Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year Award
- Victorian Training Initiative of the Year Award
- Victorian VET in Schools Excellence Award
- Victorian Employer of the Year Award
- Victorian Small Business of the Year Award
There are 3-4 finalists in each award category from which the winner is chosen. Finalists and winners come from metropolitan and regional areas across Victoria.
Winners of ten of the awards are awarded $10,000 and winners in eleven categories may represent Victoria at the Australian Training Awards. All finalists receive a framed certificate and winners of each category receive a trophy.
