Legislation
In Victoria, all education and training is governed by the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (the Act). This Act was proclaimed in July 2007.

Revised TAFE Institute constitutions
In October 2007, the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation, the Hon Jacinta Allan, MP authorised the revision of all TAFE Institute constitutions to reflect the new Act.
Amendments to all TAFE Institute constitutions:
- ensured alignment with the requirements of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006
- reflect changes to State Government purchasing and tendering limits
- include specific amendments requested during consultation with individual TAFE Institutes

Legislation for overseas students
Educational services for overseas students are covered under Commonwealth legislation: Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000. The Act is available on the Commonwealth of Australia Law website.
