Ministerial Statements
Ministerial Statements are policy documents outlining the strategic direction the Government intends to pursue in a particular area, along with any associated changes to funding or service delivery arrangements. Such statements provide strategic guidance to the responsible government departments and service delivery agencies, and useful information to all stakeholders and the community.
Skills Victoria is responsible for the initiatives outlined in the following ministerial statements.
Maintaining the Advantage: Skilled Victorians
The Skills Statement, Maintaining the Advantage: Skilled Victorians is a Government strategy and action plan to produce a skilled Victorian workforce that will lead industry and the community into the future. The four key actions are to:
- provide greater opportunities for students to participate in vocational education and training (VET) while at school - starting earlier
- encourage people to aim higher and extend their skills throughout their working life - learning longer
- open up employment opportunities that demand higher-level skills - getting smarter
- provide better information about career pathways and training opportunities and make the training system more responsive - making it easier
