There is a handy Australian Government guide called Making the Most of Your Training: Tips and Ideas for Apprentices and Trainees.

It's full of tips and ideas to support you during your training and gives you ways to improve communication between you and your boss. It contains:

tips and strategies for making the most of your training
stories from other apprentices and trainees about common situations
where to go for help and explanations of common terms
